Monsters have come in all shapes and sizes throughout history, usually acting as something beyond our control and appearing in disguise. Opening today, the Frist Art Museum presents Monsters & Myths: Surrealism and War in the 1930s and 1940s, which showcases the very subjects that writers and artists viewed as truly horrendous during a major period of upheaval and instability.
