Days Gone Lets You Live Out Your Daryl Dixon Fantasies – Zombies in My Blog

Today’s video game market is overflowing with Zombies. It’s almost as if there is an evil Alpha sitting at the top of the video game world who has decided to let loose the hordes of walkers upon the people of the world. Some have been great games, like most of the Resident Evil and Left 4 Dead series. Some have been total dumpster fires (not going to name names, but just look at the App Store on your smartphone or the cheap games on Steam). But one thing is true: People are just burned out on rotting corpses. This was Continue Reading

Killer Revelations Haunt HBO’s Barry – Zombies in My Blog

When it comes to television shows, there are not many that make me think as deeply about life as Barry. There are so many subtleties that end up becoming full-blown revelations later on that I can’t help but tell everyone I know about this show. Meet Barry, your well above-average local hitman for hire (played by Bill Hader). Barry is a Marine veteran and all-around badass. On his first mission to take out someone in an acting class, we find that Barry chooses to embrace a simpler side, by wanting to become an actor instead. This is a huge change, Continue Reading

Hunting for the Yeti – Zombies in My Blog

As an elusive creature, the Yeti has been the subject of traditional folklore and legends for more than 350 years. But recently, the mysterious mammal moved into the spotlight, as the Indian Army shared pictures to social media that claimed to be Yeti footprints tramped into the snow. Whether fact or fiction, the Abominable Snowman remains an unsolved mystery, piquing the imagination of many people around the world. Eyewitness accounts have spotted the Yeti in India, Tibet, Nepal and Bhutan throughout the years, but no conclusive evidence has ever been proven. The Yeti has been discussed in ancient texts and Continue Reading

Visiting Portals to Hell – Zombies in My Blog

Travel Channel gets a little spooky with a rebrand and the station’s newest paranormal TV show that investigates “the darkest, most sinister haunted places on Earth.” Portals to Hell features ghost hunters Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman, who team up to explore the unexplained. In the series premiere, the pair visits The Alaskan Hotel, which is “investigated on TV for the first time.” Looking as if it was built more than a few generations ago, this location had a seedy underside, which eventually led to multiple deaths that could haunt the hotel today. Ley lines and black magic are discussed Continue Reading

Prologue of Thrones – Zombies in My Blog

The first two episodes of Game of Thrones‘ final season have aired and it’s an incredibly slow burn of a pace instead of an action-packed dragon-fire scorcher. It seems more of a prologue of the season, rather than what we’ve come to expect from the series. With only four episodes left in the short six-episode season, there is still much to cover to determine the fate of the kingdoms. WARNING: This post contains spoilers for the final season of Game of Thrones. Even the epic title opening, depicting a mechanical map of the kingdom, has been scaled down significantly. The Continue Reading

This is Godzilla’s World. We Just Live in it. – Zombies in My Blog

Earth is hosting a battle royale of mythical creatures in the third and final trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which premiered yesterday, garnering plenty of positive reactions on social media. After watching Official Trailer No. 3 multiple times back to back, I noticed I was getting continuous shivers down my spine as hairs began to raise and tears began welling up in my eyes. Sure, “Over the Rainbow” was a nice touch in the background, but I was actually really excited for seeing this movie. And that’s coming from someone who absolutely refuses to watch any trailers of Continue Reading

The Addams Family Gets Animated – Zombies in My Blog

Returning to the big screen later this year, The Addams Family get animated with a new movie adaptation. How do you sum up this group of characters? They’re creepy, cooky, mysterious, spooky, altogether ooky… OK, that’s enough. Originally appearing in newspaper comic strips, these cartoon characters have incorporated horror elements with satirical family models throughout the years to create something special. As a live-action TV series, the Family appeared in 64 episodes throughout two years in the mid ’60s, but the show really found an audience via syndication. It didn’t hurt that the characters also appeared in a variety of Scooby Continue Reading

What Does Jon Favreau Bring to The Mandalorian? – Zombies in My Blog

As Avengers: Endgame wraps up one film franchise, another one prepares to begin. And the shiny connection that links the two is filmmaker Jon Favreau. Hired as the behind-the-scenes force to bring the first live-action television series set within the Star Wars Universe to light, Favreau has a lot of pressure riding on his shoulders. But what does he bring to The Mandalorian? Favreau brings credibility as a filmmaker. As a struggling actor, he wrote and acted in Swingers, which began his journey behind the camera, eventually leading to directing blockbuster films. As a director, he’s had some hits (Elf, The Continue Reading

Discovering Witches (and Vampires and Demons) – Zombies in My Blog

Vampires can no longer sire, demons are falling to madness and witches are losing their powers… and somehow an American who has been offered a professorship at Oxford controls the fates of all three species. This is how A Discovery of Witches begins. Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer) is the main character here, who’s uncomfortable around magic after what happened to her parents — something to do with the Salem Witch Trials. (Through two episodes, I kept thinking this could be a modern-day Harry Potter tale.) Vampires, demons and witches have been hiding in plain sight after humanity has taken control Continue Reading
